About Prime Time with Bec Wilson

Empty nest, midlife crisis, second act career, pre-retirement lifestyle, portfolio life, adjustment years, retirement planning, transition to retirement, sabbaticals, groovy grandparents, early retirement and retirement euphoria. None of these words encapsulate the years after our kids get their independence and we get ours back as well as the words, PRIME TIME. So that’s what we’re going to call it.

This is the prime time of your life.  If only you knew how to make the most of it. If only you could learn from those who’ve learnt the hard way, and read about the science before you hit smack bang into it.

Our late forties, fifties, sixties and even early seventies are a time of life that few of us understand, and most of us are somewhat looking forward to, with a lot of trepidation and a little excitement. It’s a time of life that barely existed for previous generations. But now, things are different. These could be the best years of our lives or the time we feel ourselves making the biggest ‘mistakes’ or both.  And we will do BOTH. But we can learn from each other.

Why? It’s a huge stage of change, adaptation and preparation, and there’s no rules except, get to know yourself again, enjoy your life, look after your health and really understand your money!

You might be in your fifties and can’t see your retirement yet, but you want to start living more for yourself and your partner; or you might be close to, preparing for or living in retirement and trying to juggle financial security with longevity. Either way, the rules are very similar. These are your best years. Grab them with both hands and enjoy them and understand how money, meaning, health and happiness work.

There’s so many choices to explore:

  • You don’t have to retire, ever, if you don’t want to. Or you can retire as soon as you can afford it.

  • You can pursue a career that gives you fulfilment, happiness and meaning, and/or you can choose to stop working yourself into the ground.

  • You can start to live your best life, simply by making more active choices about where you live, who you spend time with and what you enjoy doing.

  • You can look after your body and prioritise your mental health, and work towards a longer healthspan, and the earlier you do it, the better you’ll feel and the longer you’ll live.

  • You can understand your money earlier, and drive your retirement nest egg into shape far more proactively.

  • You can inject your money and hard work into a pre-retirement and retirement planning framework that noone really explains

  • You can thrive with an empty nest and you can thrive in your prime time.

  • And your community can be so much more than the people you work with and keep in touch with on Facebook. Why subscribe?
