How to bring more movement into your everyday
We talk strength, balance and ageing better with Dr Amanda Olsson.
In this episode of Prime Time, I’m joined by the energetic and inspiring Dr Amanda Olsson, who proves it’s never too late to reinvent yourself — especially when it comes to your health.
Amanda swapped a corporate career for kettlebells after a major injury woke her up to what ageing badly could look like. Fast forward five years, and she’s now a personal trainer and expert in ageing bodies, helping people in their 50s, 60s and beyond build strength, mobility and confidence — even if they’ve never set foot in a gym before.
We talk about why traditional gyms can feel intimidating, why burpees are not the answer, and how strength and movement are your secret weapons for living long and living well.
LISTEN TO THIS EPISODE OF THE PODCAST HERE:
Highlights of the conversation:
Amanda’s inspiring transformation from corporate communicator to personal trainer in her 50s
The fall that changed everything — and set her on a path to stronger, healthier ageing
What exercise really needs to look like after 50 (hint: it’s not burpees or bust)
Why lifting weights matters more than you think — especially for women
How to get back into movement safely if you’ve been out of action for a while
The importance of training for your future — your 70s, 80s and 90s
Balance, posture and primal movement: why they’re not just buzzwords, but lifesavers
Amanda’s clever daily hacks — from brushing teeth on one leg to dancing to Bennie and the Jets
What to do if gyms scare you: safe starting points and alternatives that still get results
Why “pick your hard” might be the most motivating phrase you hear this year
This one’s packed with practical advice, smart science, and Amanda’s warm, no-nonsense wisdom. Whether you’re active or aching, this conversation will help you rethink what it means to move your body well in your prime time.

Go to over 50s gym 3 times a week, have specific program which takes 1.5hours. Very beneficial, especially since hip replacement
