What’s next for the housing market as interest rates fall? In this episode, I chat with Diana Mousina, Deputy Chief Economist at AMP, who shares her expert insights on what 2025 might bring. Together, we explore the Australian housing market, inflation trends, and the future of interest rates.
We dive into the ripple effects of Trump-era tariffs, the challenges ahead for housing affordability, and the outlook for home prices in 2025. Diana sheds light on what’s happening in both urban regional housing markets, the complexities of downsizing, and the opportunities in intergenerational wealth transfer. Plus, she reveals where to look for the best opportunities in property and investment markets in the year ahead.

Downsizing isn’t as popular as you might think – but why not?
How intergenerational wealth transfer could help (and why we need to talk about it sooner).
Super, shares, and investment strategies:
How Australian shares and franking credits stack up against property as income sources.
Predictions for superannuation returns in 2025 – will the good times keep rolling?
Big global risks that could shake everything up:
How trade wars, geopolitical tensions, and the Trump administration could disrupt markets.
The latest on Bitcoin – why it’s climbing again and where it might go next.
From Bec’s Desk
I love hearing experts break down and analyse the economy—especially the fascinating dynamics of the housing market—and Diana was absolutely brilliant in this episode. How are you feeling about the property market and the idea of downsizing, rightsizing or freeing up capital right now? I’d love to understand your perspective and how you’re thinking about it!
Now for my little update. This week, I had the privilege of speaking at the Women in Super Christmas Party in Sydney—420 incredible women gathered in a stunning ballroom. I feel so grateful to wrap up the year connecting with industry professionals and sharing insights about Epic Retirements. What an inspiring way to close out 2024!
Yesterday, we saw a major announcement from the government about the future of financial advice, including plans to update the rules for super funds and banks to provide advice ahead of the next election. This could be a real gamechanger—one that’s long overdue for both the industry and consumers—assuming the election doesn’t shake things up first!
